Sea Isle is required to re-examine it's master plan every 10 years in accordance with state requirements. The Master Plan provides recommendations for future planning efforts, zoning amendments, and zone district and zone map changes. The Planning Board has scheduled a Public Hearing to review the Master Plan Re-examination draft on Monday, September 12, at 7:00 p.m., on the third floor of City Hall, 233 JFK Boulevard. A small description of some recommendations is below:
The full Master Plan Re-Examination Report can be read here: MASTER PLAN RE-EXAMINATION REPORT The Planning Board has scheduled a Public Hearing to review the Master Plan Re-examination draft on Monday, September 12, at 7:00 p.m., on the third floor of City Hall, 233 JFK Boulevard. Tropical Storm Hermine was down graded and moved further out to sea, so Sea Isle's weather improved all afternoon yesterday. The wind died down and you could see the sunset (picture below). Flooding at high tide never occurred and by this morning the sun was out the humidity was down and it was a perfect September morning at the beach. The only problem so far from Hermine has been beach erosion. The high tides last night and this morning were right up to the due fences in many places. And the surf was still very rough. The worst is probably yet to come as the current forecast calls for Hermine to turn to the west this evening. The high tides and flooding that were expected today are now expected on Monday. Unfortunately many people left the shore yesterday. Those that stayed are enjoying the weather and plentiful parking spaces.
Traffic has been bumper to bumper leaving Sea Isle since 10:30 am and is likely to continue into the evening as people leave ahead of Tropical Storm Hermine. Traffic at Landis Ave and JFK was all but gridlocked as in the picture below. The Garden State Parkway is bumper to bumper from south of Avalon to the Atlantic City Expressway. Businesses are still open getting all the Labor Day weekend business that they can since Sea Isle is predicted to be under water for most of the day tomorrow. However some businesses were starting to get ready. The surf has retreated quite a bit now that it is almost low tide, but the ocean is very rough and still well above its usual low tide level. There has already been a lot of beach erosion and much more is expected at high tide tonight and all day tomorrow. Sea Isle's beaches are already being hit hard with Tropical Storm Hermine still over a day away. As you can see from the video, there tide is already up very high. The eye of the storm isn't even out over the ocean yet. The storm is expected to intensify into a category 1 hurricane in the next 24 hours. The worst of flooding is expected at high tide on Sunday evening about 10:00 PM. |
