The project will resume next week after shutting down for environmental restrictions before summer started. Work will continue to finish the paving on the north (new) side of the highway. Traffic is expected to be switched over to the raised north side sometime mid-october.
Once the new raised north side is open, the process will begin all over again on the south side. The contractor will place fill +2 feet above where the road will sit and let it settle for a year before beginning road construction on top.
The project is set to be completed before the summer 2019 season. But with already so many delays and work restrictions in the project, we can't help but wonder if it will be pushed back until before summer 2020.
So for travelers, the woes are here to stay.
