The expansion of Henri's Bar is almost complete. This summer Henri's will be over doubled in size which is great news for everyone that loves Henri's but was frustrated with how crowded it was on summer weekends. As you can see from the pictures below most of the major construction work is finished. Hopefully the extra space doesn't change Henri's laid back crowd. Time will tell.

The Sea Isle City Police Department announced in a release today that he Townsends Inlet Bridge will be closed immediately until further notice. The release does not give an more info, on why the bridge was closed, but says they will update the public when the County Engineers Office gives them more information on the timeframe for repairs. We will update the story as more information becomes available. Heading to neighboring shore towns may be a bit easier this coming summer, but may be a bit harder on the wallet. On Monday, The Cape May County Bridge Commission announced that an E-ZPass toll collection system will be installed on all of the Ocean Drive bridges in its system from Ocean City south to Grassy Sound near Wildwood. This includes the Townsend and Corson's Inlet Bridges in and out of Sea Isle to Avalon and Ocean City. The new EZ-Pass system will allow more cars to pass through the tolls quicker on the County operated bridges, which are known to get backed up during the Summer season. The CMC Bridge Commission plan to have the new systems up and running before this 2017 summer. Cars will still have the option to pay cash as usual. Along with the addition of the EZ-Pass systems, the Bridge Commission announced plans to raised tolls on the bridges from anywhere from $.50 to $1. With a $1 raise in the summer months and $.50 raise during the offseason, as not to burden year round residents as much. The raise would bring the toll to $2.50 in the summer months and $2 in the winter, and would be the first since 2009. The Commission have a public hearing followed by a vote on the increase scheduled for April 27th. Sea Isle Council members and Mayor Desirderio have already spoken out against the toll increase at this past Tuesday Council Meeting. There were huge crowds this year for Sea Isle's annual Polar Plunge. The spring like weather certainly played a role as the afternoon temperature was in the 60s. As you can see from the pictures below, the crowds were out in force. Last year's plunge was on a frigid windy day and there were noticeably fewer plungers. However this year the crowds on the beach were possibly the largest ever.
For awhile Springfield Inn's Carousel once stood alone as the only outdoor bar in Sea Isle, but that has since changed greatly with almost every bar in Sea Isle that can, adding an outdoor area. LaCosta filled in it's motel pool years ago to open the deck bar, the Ocean Drive and Braca's have both purchased adjacent properties to open and expand their outdoor bar areas. Take a walk down Landis Ave and there are always people outside at O'Donnell's Pour House and visit the other side of town, where you can catch people sitting outside at Kix. Even more outdoor bar changes are coming this summer as well as Braca's Henri's outdoor bar is undergoing a huge expansion and renovation plans, first reported by Sea Isle Guide. Also the Ocean Drive has just received city approval to replace it's temporary tent above the bar with a permanent structure, so the party can keep going even in the rain. The Ocean Drive also plans to demolish an old storage garage on the property and add in new bathrooms for the outdoor bar. It's safe to say both will be great additions to the Sea Isle Bar scene this summer.
