Recent Improvements in Sea Isle:
Sea Isle City has invested heavily in improvements to the island over that last five years. The bay to beach gateway project completely renovated the JFK Blvd from the bridge into to the ocean front. The changes are very noticeable and include increased parking, wider sidewalks and a complete renovation of the Promenade at JFK. The renovation of the marina area along 42nd place was completed a few years ago. The marina now has an elevated boardwalk running from the boat ramp all the way to the commercial fishing boats. The street side landscaping was also significantly improved.
The completion of the new Sea Isle Library was another major improvement. The old library on JFK Blvd was demolished and converted into much needed parking. Sea Isle City's new library is located at 4800 Central Ave and includes ample off street parking. The building is very large and houses not only the library but large meeting rooms and the Sea Isle City Museum. The museum is well worth a visit and has an extensive collection of old photo's of Sea Isle City and the damage done by the storm of 1962.
Excursion Park is the center of many summer activities in Sea Isle City. The band shell is used for Sea Isle's free outdoor summer concerts, free movie nights and the popular Sea Isle's Got Talent competition. Excursion Park is also used for Sea Isle's Skimmer Festival, and the weekly Farmers Market which is held every Tuesday from mid June until mid August. Octoberfest is also held in Excursion Park. The turtle statue at the south west corner of Excursion Park is popular with little children and a great spot to take a vacation picture. When Excursion Park is not being used for an official event, many use the large open space for Frisbee and Wiffle Ball games.
Sea Isle City's recently opened their new City Hall and Public Safety building. Super Storm Sandy, damaged both the old City Hall on Landis Ave and Public Safety Building on JFK Blvd causing significant flood damage to both buildings. Restoring these buildings and bringing them in line with current building and safety codes would have been prohibitively expensive. As a result the decision was made to demolish the old buildings and replace them with one new facility on JFK Blvd. Completed in June of 2015 the new facility houses Sea Isle’s City Hall, Police Department, Volunteer Fire Department, Construction Office, and Municipal Court. The new building is much higher than the old buildings so flooding will no longer be a concern. The new building is a great addition to Sea Isle and can't be missed when you come over the bridge into Sea Isle.
Sea Isle City is also currently in the planning stages of a Master Plan for more of Sea Isle's city owned facilities.
