The plans for the new Acme are below.
For everyone that hates going to the world's smallest Acme in Sea Isle City, this is the last summer you will need to squeeze down the small crowded isle's and snake through the ridiculously small checkout lines. The old Acme is schedule to be demolished at the end of this summer and a new much larger Acme will replace it by Memorial Day 2016. At least that's the plan. The Sea Isle zoning board approved the new Acme in spite of the fact that all 55 of the citizens attending the meeting voiced their opposition. The new Acme will be almost four times larger and will displace Uncle Oggies, Rick's Breakfast and the Arcade. In addition there will be a new building built behind the CVS that will house Uncle Oggie's and Ricks.
The plans for the new Acme are below.

They have to leave Sands THE BEACH SHOP of Sea Isle! The only entertainment available at that end for children is the Arcade. No home for the Arcade? And how about parking? Maybe a parking garage on the roof of the new Acme? C'mon legislators think of the residents, the tourists, the children, the accidents, the safety, the businesses. Sea Isle if not carefully planned for what's left of its open space will fall into the ocean due to congestion!

I see a "Beach Shop" on the drawings on the right. That seems to indicate that they are making room for the Beach Shop.

ColeenK- I read the article and it seems that Acme is going to have a Beach Shop and that's why the sign. I was suggesting that SANDS is Sea Isle's original BEACH SHOP and should be treated as such. Acme can call their summer section Vacation Paradise for all I care.

Parking anyone?!? There aren't even CLOSE TO ENOUGH spots there NOW for the "Little Acme"! And, once again, the kids lose out in Sea Isle - no arcade. No rides and amusements anymore either because we need parking in the center of town! Too bad we can't put those spots near the new Acme! Instead of seeing $$ I wish the the council would see what's good for the families of Sea Isle. Because isn't it supposed to be a family oriented town??

There are no less than 2 arcades on the promenade! How many arcades does one town need?

Sands is staying because it is privately owned. Also Acme is not putting "beach shop" on the front after all out of respect for Sands. I attended the meeting.

A big Acme is Awesome! Sands staying is Awesome!! Where will people park?!? That ancient Kodak hit, now reads Bait hasn't been occupied Forever!!! And the bank is abandoned. Knock them down!!!! All those new condos w/store fronts were a mistake!!! The new Acme should have come before them. They r useless. Acme will be great IF parking is addressed!!!

That will certainly change the complexion of that site! I can't help but wonder if it had to be four times the size, instead of maybe three, leaving room for parking. Sea Isle has done a great job in adding entertainment for kids at Excursion Park. As for the amusement park that is no longer operational, well that's was not the city's fault, that was an unfortunate side effect of SS Sandy for the owner.

The parking was addressed, what you see is what is available.

I totally agree a larger Ame is necessary but that should have been done before those new stores and condos were built. I have not heard on person ever say anything nice about them. It was totally a bad spot for them. Parking lot is dangerous.

This project only needed 9 variances waived, the condo project had 12. I hope the condo owners like the new facility because with a larger facility comes more deliveries and noise and congestion. There goes your property values.

Forget about parking in that lot! Start taking Uber or a bicycle. Chances are half of the people in this town would fail a breathalyzer at any given time of day.

As a 10+ year vacationer of SIC, I believe the new Acme will be an improvement. I do feel bad for Jimmie's, it's a great ice cream parlor, and never has huge lines like Marita's and Yum Yum's. I hope Jimmie's is not displaced and given a new home. Plus the arcade was a great little spot for 5-8 year olds that don't have to fight for machines with the bigger kids on the Promenade.
