The plans for the new Acme are below.
For everyone that hates going to the world's smallest Acme in Sea Isle City, this is the last summer you will need to squeeze down the small crowded isle's and snake through the ridiculously small checkout lines. The old Acme is schedule to be demolished at the end of this summer and a new much larger Acme will replace it by Memorial Day 2016. At least that's the plan. The Sea Isle zoning board approved the new Acme in spite of the fact that all 55 of the citizens attending the meeting voiced their opposition. The new Acme will be almost four times larger and will displace Uncle Oggies, Rick's Breakfast and the Arcade. In addition there will be a new building built behind the CVS that will house Uncle Oggie's and Ricks.
The plans for the new Acme are below.

The beach replenishment project is in full swing and the beaches at the center of town are currently closed for about five blocks. Despite the inconvenience, the project is moving along well ahead of schedule. The beach is being rebuilt to a level that I have never seen. I have been summering in Sea Isle for over 30 years and the dunes that are being created by this current dredging and sand pumping project are significantly larger that any prior beach replenishment. In fact when you stand on the Promenade at JFK and look out towards the ocean, you can no longer sea the beach or the waves breaking on the shore. Above the new dunes, you can only see the ocean on the horizon. Let's hope that we don't get any big winter storms that wash away a summers worth of work by the dredge, pump and bulldozers.
As you can see from the pictures below this is a big beach fill project. |
